SECTION IV - FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD

Flash Point (Method Used): 108 deg F.       Flammable limits:        LEL: 1.9          UEL: 12.6

Extinguishing Media: Water, fog, foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide and vaporizing liquid type extinguishing agents.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Do not enter confined fire space without full bunker gear, NIOSH approved self contained breathing apparatus.  Do not use a direct stream of water on pool fires.  Product will float and can be reignited on surface of water.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Containers exposed to intense heat from fires should be cooled with water to prevent vapor pressure buildup which could cause container rupture.  Containers exposed to direct flame should  be cooled with water to prevent weakening of container structure.

Stability: Unstable [ ] Stable [X]

Conditions to Avoid: None: None

Incompatibility (materials to avoid): Peroxide hazard on concentration; inhibitor has been added to mitigate peroxide hazard.

Hazardous Decomposition or Byproducts: Under fire conditions; Nitric acid, sulfuric acid, strong oxidizers

Hazardous Polymerization May occur [ ]       Will not occur [X]

SECTION VI . Health Hazard Data

Route(s) of entry         Inhalation?  Yes          Skin?  Yes       Ingestion?  Yes

Health Hazards(Acute and Chronic): Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause drying or defatting of skin.  Slightly irritating to eyes but does not injure eye tissue.  Inhalation – High vapor concentrations are irritating to the yes and respiratory tract and may affect central nervous system.  In extreme cases unconsciousness or death may occur.  Ingestion – Minimal toxicity.  Small amounts aspirated into the respiratory system during ingestion or vomiting may cause mild to severe pulmonary injury, even death.

Carcinogenicity:          NTP?  No        (ARC Monographs)?  No       OSHA Regulated? No

Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Pre-existing eye, skin, and respiratory disorders.

Emergency and First Aid Procedures: Eyes– Flush with water, and get medical attention.  Skin – Flush with water, then use soap and water.  Ingestion – Do NOT induce vomiting.  If vomiting occurs, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration into lungs.  Get medical attention.  Inhalation – Remove victim to fresh air and give oxygen if necessary.  Get medical attention

SECTION VII . Precautions for Safe Handling and Use

Steps to Be Taken In Case Material is Released or Spilled: Eliminate sources of ignition.  Soak up with absorbent material and place in non-leaking containers for disposal.  If spill is in a public area, advise authorities.

Waste Disposal Method: Dispatch to an approved waste disposal facilities in conformation with federal, state and local authorities.

Precautions For Storing and Handling: “Empty” containers contain residue and can be dangerous.  Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose such containers to heat, flame, sparks or other sources of ignition.  They may explode and cause injury..

Other Precautions: Keep containers closed when not in use.  Do not contaminate with foreign chemicals.

SECTION VIII - Control Measures

Respiratory Protection (Specify Type): NIOSH/MSHA approved respirators if used in confined space, or to prevent overexposure if TLV is present.

Ventilation

Local Exhaust: Normal

Special:

Mechanical:

Other

Protective Gloves: Chemical resistant.

Eye Protection: Goggles, face shield, or glasses to prevent splashing, with side shields.

Other Protective Clothing or Equipment: Eye wash and protective clothing.

Work Hygienic Practices: Wash thoroughly after handling. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.
